I'm not sure if anyone has had this problem, but I feel like some SUVs are too big to be on the road. It just seems like the drivers of them feel like they own the road. I know they can be practical, but at the same time, there are just some trucks that are unnecessary. Some examples: Lincoln Navigator Ford Expedition/new explorer Hummer Infinity Q3 I believe Dodge Durango (my brother has this big suv and he isn't in the general category, but still I've seen some bad Durango drivers) |

Just a flat-out yes from me. I don't know how many times I've almost been smashed by a SUV that feels the need to pass me. And usually I leave plenty of space. |

They annoy me generally. It's like "are you that bad a driver you have to encase yourself in armour?". That and it's just a waste of fuel anyway. |

The main problem is that a lot of them are bad drivers so they end up thinking they own the road. Not to mention, that usually bigger cars are not safer at all. They like to think they are safer, but a lot of times they don't get 5 star ratings in crash tests.
This is how I feel too. There are things called "tolls" here where you have to stop and pay a small toll. You don't know how many times I'll get cut off by a big SUV because of what I mentioned above. It just annoys me a lot. |

Some of them are rather too large. I don't know what you'd need that big of a vehicle for other than transporting large materials. |

I'd rather have a pickup truck. Stick people on the back and go! Or a straight up van. Not a big SUV though....do they even have extra seats? |

Yes. I like smaller SUVs like the Ford Escape, and even the newer Ford Explorers. But Escalades and Navigators are too much. They were borderline unnecessary in the 90's, but once the millennium hit and gas prices flew up, they should've been discontinued. I generally don't have too many problems with them on the road, though, except I can't see past them if I'm too close and that pisses me off. Edited by Pyrus, Sep 29 2013, 03:34 AM.

The new Ford Explorer is stretching it a bit now. It is so wide and large my goodness. I can see why some people need them because they do add that extra seat that some families need, but honestly a Kia Sorento is more than enough. It seems like the Asian companies know how to make SUVs, with an extra seat, both practical an safe for the road. I don't even mind pick up trucks that much because most of the time they are used to transport things. However, I still see Escalades, GMCs, and other enormous trucks on the road. They make me made because they just take up so much space. |

Ugh, that f***ing sucks! Are you and your mom okay? This is the situation I am afraid of happening to one day because of how crazy some drivers can be. |

Funny this thread is up because we experienced an a-hole in an SUV doing something stupid today. So we went to the store to get junk and we see this dude in a big SUV going atleast 75 down a 25 MPH zone, just to turn into a gas station that was just around the corner, he crashed into 3 cars, a baby was in one of them, he's alright, he also knocked a dude off his bike and almost ran him over. I've always feared being next to SUV's or big trucks on the highway or the road for that reason, I feel most of them are just idiotic drivers and feel like they own the road. |

We were driving and she tried to pull into our lane without signaling, well my mom had to pull the steering wheel over hard to avoid being hit. When she did that we jumped a curve and smashed right into a light pole, the b*** in the SUV kept on driving but was later stop by some witnesses. The cops said that if we were over by 2 more inches during the impact we wouldn't have made at the speed we were going. The seatbelts saved us from severe injuries. My mom had bruising around her collarbone and damage to her left leg.I ended up with a fracture in my right foot. We're ok though. |
